Unsung Heroes of the Day

By Stephanie Jankowski Leave a Comment

The older I get, the more I get my kicks from really pathetic stuff. Like, what’s better than being all caught up on laundry (for that one whole hour…)?! I’ll answer my own question: ordering take-out.

Apparently the temporary highs of cleaning and food prepared by someone else are enough to keep me going. Could I *be* more boring?! –Chandler Bing

Meh. What can I say? It’s the little things these days…

For example, as the mother of three follicle-ly blessed children who have zero qualms about regularly clogging our drains with their beautiful hair, I am inexplicably hot for Pittsburgh plumbing. Not having to mess with gross drains is definitely up there on the list of pathetic things that make me happy.

As a teacher, when the copy machine copies, collates, and staples with nary a jam, paper shortage, or ink cartridge issue? HEAVEN.

More unassuming awesomeness that makes a huge difference at school:

  • Casual Fridays…
  • The insightful contribution a student makes to class discussion…
  • Your across-the-hall colleague who keeps an eye on your class so you can pee outside of a scheduled bathroom break…

For more examples of the little things that brighten a teacher’s day, HERE is my latest on Bored Teachers.
