Pickles & Pancetta: The Sixth Love Language is Food

By Stephanie Jankowski Leave a Comment

I grew up in an Italian American family. We eat when we are happy. We eat when we are sad.
We eat when we are mourning. We eat when we are celebrating. Food is an expression of love.

Girl, same!

During the pandemic, Nicole Mountain, founder and creative culinary force of Pickles & Pancetta Premium Antipasto and Charcuterie, decided it was time to finally combine her first true love (Italian food) with her second true love (dog rescue). Nicole’s antipasto and charcuterie boards do exactly what her family has always done: show love through food.

*drools*

Taking inspiration from Mr. Pickles and Pancetta, Nicole and husband Jeff’s rescue pups, she created a small, delicious business that serves the Pittsburgh area and benefits rescue groups. PawCuterie ®, a subset of Pickles & Pancetta, offers charcuterie boards for both humans and dogs, as well as activewear in which a portion of the proceeds are donated to the two rescue groups from where Mr. Pickles and Pancetta were adopted!

Nicole’s boards have graced tables all over Pittsburgh in celebration of engagements, housewarmings, baptisms, birthdays, Hanukkah, business events, and more. And in true Italian fashion, her boards have also been a show of support and love in sad times, proving antipasto is always better than sending flowers.

I would take this to a bachelorette party or a baby shower and then make people bow down to me.

Nicole is understandably adamant about quality ingredients. If you follow her on Instagram or Facebook, you will see the hashtag #ingredientsmatter in all her posts. That’s because every single one of her boards is filled with quality, imported, traditional, authentic Italian ingredients.

YES, PLEASE!

I use only the best ingredients and organic produce. You will never find an ingredient in one of my creations that you wouldn’t find on my grandmother’s table. That is my promise to my customer.

Nicole hopes to open a local storefront this fall. The goal is to create a space where the community will gather, drink wine, and eat. THREE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS. I will absolutely be around that table!

I highly recommend showing up other side dishes by taking a Pickles & Pancetta board to your next shindig. If you place an order before August 30th, mention the discount code “Crazy Pickles” to score 10% off.
