For months, I’ve been wanting to write an end-of-the-week wrap-up if for no other reason than to quiet my self-inflicted OCD that keeps blathering on about “organizing” and “streamlining.” As I’ve yet to find a way to sufficiently sate my proverbial ducks or their row, mostly because the fetus insists we nap rather than read or write (sorry, fellow bloggers…sad trombones…), I’m sharing all this randomness now. Because if not a Thursday, when?
I’ve published a few old-school pieces on Aiming Low:
Remember a few months ago when my husband and I attempted to recapture our college days by playing flip cup and beer pong at a friend’s basement party, but then realized we were just old and pathetic? Yeah, I shared the top 10 reasons our frat party days are over with the folks at Aiming Low. The best part? My 11th reason came true. Boom.
Speaking of the husband, I repurposed a post I wrote about him forever ago. Barely anyone read it the first time (because you cool kids weren’t around yet!), and I still can’t decide if I’m morbid or sentimental. According to the comments, I’m not the only person who carries pieces of my better half with me, so I can’t be that morbid. Not, like, literal pieces because ewww. That’s beyond morbid; that’s some next level Jeffery Dahmer -ish. Just go read it. Please!
I haven’t just been recycling, although it is good for the environment and my sanity. Nope, I’ve been in cahoots with Raising Wild Things creator Mackenzie, and last week, we rolled out our brand spankin’ new blog, The Day We First Met. We’ve been working on the behind-the-scenes stuff for a while now, and are SO PROUD of our little corner of the Interwebs. The goal is to celebrate and share the stories of how families came to be, regardless of the journey. Adoption, surrogacy, IVF, natural birth–only the destination matters to us, and we highlight the love and the exhilaration and even the moments that had us saying what the EFF did I do?! We feature birth stories from all kinds of families from all walks of life, and we would be incredibly grateful if you were to visit and spread the word that we’re here! We’ve made a Facebook page and we really want you to like it (really, could you click “like”?). We’ve already published two essays on the blog; the first is Mackenzie’s scary yet sweet experience with her preemie, and the second is from a same-sex couple who–spoiler alert–had a fairly normal experience preparing for, birthing, and raising a child together. You’ll read them and love them HERE, right? I knew I could count on you. OOOH! And you can submit your own story if you want; just visit HERE. Thanks, pals!
And now I’m off to nap. Or wipe out the unread posts in my Bloglovin’ feed. Hmmmm…read, nap. Nap, read. What should I…Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…
